I am broken
And cast out
I want you to stitch me back together
Suture me
Mend me
Salve my wounds
Heal me
I want your hands
On me
Tender and rough
The pads of your fingers
Like x-rays
Finding the breaks
And then setting them right
I want to feel
And not feel
Everything
I want to climb inside you
Wrap your life around me
Like a womb
Sleep curled adainst your heart
I want to be comforted
By the consistency
Of predictable love
Risky
Unpredictable
Love
I want to fall
Into the vast expanse
Of time
After all the work is done
Safe from the luck
Of unlucky whim
And unlikely strangers
I want to grow your skin
Around my parts
Thicker / Surer / Bulletproof
Until I am certain that uncertainty
Is as unlikely as god
I want to be here
After time has taken all it will take
And all my tithes have been paid
Until what is left belongs to me alone
I want to set my anchor down
In the tender flesh of your heart
Take up residence in your country
Trade my scars for the mirrored surface
Of faith
Safe in the knowledge
That this is the last day
The world will spin
Wildly on its axis
The last day
I will drift
Flung out from gravity
Untethered and rudderless
Pieces broken and cast out
Lacking only what I have given freely.
