My love, as I examine you in the soft light of morning,
are you Thou or It?
Are you a universe, separate and beautiful unto herself,
     welcoming me into her source
or only the object of my heart’s desire?
The curves of your breast rising to the crescendo of your hardened nipple—
is its crushing loveliness sourced in my love of your joy,
or based on the catalog of pornographic images lusted over and stored?
The smile on your face and your outstretched hand, beckoning,
am I drawn to your arms by our mutual commitment to creating union,
or by the knowledge of the pleasure I will obtain, folded within your gasps?

Is God in our humanity, together?
Am I in our togetherness, as a human?
And who knows but God?
Is our humanity lessened due to the sexual stereotypes that we place on each other?
Can we overcome them to truly be ourselves in each other’s sight?
Are we pretending for each other, or leading each other to a new reality?
Is it love or is it Memorex?

Damn, who asks such questions?
And at this point, do we really give a shit?
Sometimes it is enough for the moment to be our eternity,
Knowing that the moment abides to tomorrow.
How can I ask for anything but that which we are granted as humans?
     Simply the moment
     and the promise.

In the meantime,
come, let us reason together with not a word…

OK

Now you're cookin'! I read Similes first and it's hard for me to believe this was written by the same poet. I like a poet who varies his subject and style but of your two submissions this is a winner.
