to write a haiku of your face

I collect the words
so carefully -- ordered and
arranged by your face

a distant mountain
its blue is almost your eyes
that faraway look

a gaze through the clouds
your voice's misty whispers
settle damp on me

you smile -- the skies clear
into the million colors
echoed in your laugh

sunset, earthy red
light's fingertips in your hair
the tight twisting curls

twilight wanes, darkness
mars your perfect frown
midnight -- your anger

coaxing a small smile
I tumble my collection
selecting the words

a phrase, then a line
the perfect moment lost in
wonder of your face:

white feather
doves on mountain tops
I touch you
