I took a cautious step
Across Kyoto's famous river
Which didn't look like a river
But like a big drainage ditch
The banks lined with cement
A paved waterway
Across stepping stones we walked
Almost having to leap
From one giant turtle's back to another's head
You went ahead and offered your hand
I accepted, hesitant
As if offered more than just your hand
We stepped aside to let
A mother and two kids pass
They ambled along so surely
That my balance also improved
And we finished the walk across
Without incident
