A flame flickers
bending in wind,
in mockery of the immutable,
- embracing true nature.

Man is immutable.
Sits like a mountain
in sombre silence
In search of nibanna*.

His face peaceful
- a seldom flicker
in eyes sealed shut
- hiding from the world.

Flame mistakes
this flicker for dance
inside soul of Man
and laughs.

For Man mistakes
thoughts for freedom
while heart and mind still wait
for body to dance.

Man is not deaf.
He looks at mutable flame
in all it's formlessness
and laughs back.

For flame mistakes
Wind for itself --
all ideas born from
and confined to want.

So Man looks at Flame
and Flame at Man
in search of self
though pursuing nibanna*.

Truth in Flame

Very different content,

and theme and imagery are powerful.

This gives something to ponder on.
