teacher,

my starry eyes followed
fantasy, dream pondering
still, I slowly relinquish
natural songs of longing

terrible truths i know
coming abrupt, face to face
there is no one righteous life
only right time and right place

lessons jeweled in harsh truths
you preach these sad gifts, awing
when required right feels wrong
wrong screams right, sorrow’d begging

living cultured constraints
defying beauty’s stark call
who are we to question this
not risking all to chance fall?

evolutions of mind
paid at such sharp, painful price
sorrow pleads you, hear my voice
truth sings of this mournful plight!

denial’s heart beats a wicked time

tempo bruising, cuts quick
a learned dance we must embrace
tucking your jewels in my heart
tumbled smooth, with smile i race

seeking inklings of truth
we who willful question, chance
heavy burdens and risk falls
in fearless search learn this dance

into passionate life
purposeful i slipped, embraced
beauty’s noise returning call
receiving all in pained grace

my questioning toll paid
through snare and fear i forage
undaunted, savor truth’s songs
grow and collect my knowledge

teacher, your gifts abound
preach me your mind openly
humble heart entreats, into
these awing places lead me
