im standing at the corner and
contemplating the continuing
struggle between night and day
when the pregnant lady walks slowly by

she plows a weary carriage
down the dimly lit sidewalk
that runs as though scared
past the silent and leering cemetery

for a few suspended seconds
hushed time hangs in the air
as colors filter and fade...
and now i see the night is falling fast.
