She sits on her balcony,
The hot wind staining
Her hair burgundy,
The unrelenting sun staining
Her skin gold.
Here, so high
So safe
So powerful
Her escape flauntingly close,
Painfully easy.

She sits on her balcony,
Sipping her wine
As she watches the sun set,
The night air cool against her cheeks,
The moon beckoning her to fly.
Here, in the dark
So tranquil
So omnipotent
Her release cries out to her,
Achingly near.

She sits on her balcony,
Smoking her cigarette
As the sun returns to her,
The dew cold on her feet,
The light burning her eyes.
Here, in this moment
She is not afraid.
She is a God.
The sun taunts her,
Dares her to dream.

And when the sun sets on her heart
She will know just how dark
And cold
A summer day can be.
