It is late. I shut off the lights in the house. I set my alarm for the morning and slip under the comforter. A cold winter night keeps me warm. I think of some fantasy...enticing enough to pull me into sleep.
It is a exotic location and I am facing the resonant blue water. The sun has just settled down to a land below and the mist splashes against my feet. I close my eyes and breathe in the sweetness of the moment. Pure serenity in it's simplistic form. Nothing could make this moment more perfect I say to myself.
That all changes with the brush of fingertips that dance down my shoulder to my wrist and hand below. I keep my eyes closed or I will lose this forever. The fingertips that tango down my arm weave themselves between my own. My hand closes around them holding them there. Another hand again intertwining itself into mine.
I feel the flutter of warm exhaling tapping upon my the back of my neck. You have come back. Even if it is a stolen sleepless moment...for that you are mine.
