Amber, crimson, burnt orange
in lovers’ dance.
Arms extend, then wrap
fold into each other.
Interwoven hues
stirred to colorful mixture,
limbs entwine
fingers flutter.
Jaundiced oaks
fever-ridden maples
ironically infuse
a healthy glow.
Diverse shapes, sizes
jockey for position,
symbiotically join
bright, radiant luster.
Twisted colors
intermingle,
create a blanket
to bury worries.
Brittle and brown
last days pass,
the journey ends
as daylight folds.
