When I was a child
Great terrifying monsters
Would spring from the darkness
And leap upon my body
Crush the bones and burn the flesh
My skin bruised and bloodied
I walked with an ache
I walked with a hole in my heart.

The ache of the great turbulence
The Great Turbulence of Love
They said this was Love
Love: this violence-mixed-confused
Twister-stirred-poison-stew.
Where was I in all that turbulence?
In the eye of the storm
Looking out from the hole.
