You reach for my hand.
Your hand is small within mine.
I enfold it between my two hands,
wanting to protect it.

Your hand is soft, gentle and warm.
I want to shield it from evil, pain,
despair and all hurt.
But since I am human I have flaws.

Your hand is grown now.
It’s rougher than it used to be.
Your hand is now bigger than mine.
I’m sorry I did not shield you better.
