I like this a lot – especially the end pair of lines. They capture that dreadful lurch feeling when we sense that all is not as well as we thought.
It is strange. I have immense regard and respect for GM yet I nearly always find myself disagreeing at least in part with his comments.
As always what OB writes is as clear as a bell - no gnomic obscurity. As to what they have missed or lost – I don’t think he or she knows. I consider that uncertainty a key part of the feeling of loss, adding to the poignancy.
Oddly enough, I surprisingly often find myself agreeing with 1201’s comments. Just thought I would throw that one in.
