Protect my heart you say
Don't sit around and wait
There is no will or way
For it is now too late
There's nothing I can do
I know, it seems so cruel
I fell in love with you
I broke the golden rule
But I feel no regret
I wouldn't change a thing
And now my heart is set
And bound up in a sling
I just wish that I knew
The state of your poor heart
Been broken by a few...
Been ripped and torn apart
If you would just let go
Allow yourself to feel
Then you might come to know
A way to let it heal
For nothing is more rare
Than love that's pure and true
The love that's always there
The love I have for you
I've never wanted more
To satisfy a man
With you it's not a chore
With you, I know I can
You make me feel alive
You make my heart beat strong
I'll wait and I'll survive
Forever, isn't long.

Anonymousabout 16 years agoI am stunned, it's like you are reading my mind. I have been trying to draft a similar poem for the love of my life. A love that I can not have ... and you have so totally captured my deepest and most sincere thoughts. Thank you for letting me know I'm not alone.
tom6about 17 years agoDoes there come a point when the heart....the mind...can no longer see love......the words are there....the actions are there....but....is love still in there....is love still the notion it was when we were young in experience....was love always desire....were we unable to identify the source of the emotions....does time and experience dull life's edge....life's wonder and the lust for life....I don't think so but it can produce individuals that are very different than they once were....for my 2cents worth....don't give up on the love of life, love of experience, love of people that your writing shows you have...
