Unfathomable

Deep blue pools of hurt
With crests of hope and joy.
Silver in their dancing.
Grey and glassy in their merriment.

Luminous azure tides rippling,
Hinting at a wounded soul.
Flecks of gold light your smile,
But all too rarely, much too briefly.

Quicksilver in their nature,
Mercurial and ever changing.
A fluid liquid landscape.
Glance away and the story unravels.

An infinite sea, surface nearly calm.
With vicious currents far below.
The whole never seen, or understood,
Yet still precious, always wondrous.
