And so we come to our end;
our hinted promises to each other
unfulfilled,
in fulfillment
of promises voiced to others.
Our love,
spoken and denied,
returned to the dreams
from which it emerged;
a thing of smoke and mirrors
that yet was made solid.
Presented
to Aphrodite’s eyes
and not found wanting.
Those stolen moments
will live in me undiminished
and the memory of our love
will remain pristine
and be my beacon
to heaven.

Damn you!

I said I was through crying over my "never" -- and you made me do it again. Very poignant. Well done.
