defining her uncomely long fingers,
she unfurls and spills over
in a bold rainbow.
Ten years at the internal seaside
with parched lips upturned,
seeking honey and structure,
marks a lifetime unconceived,
hidden amidst broken shells and grotto.
Now it's en pointe and rebounding calves,
earth fabric propelling her skywards
into an ocean of red and blue joy,
tethers unleashed with joyful fingers
stained the orange
of a rusty razor.
Rushing, diving,
each striving muscle greeted
in a shower of fire and light
as shed skin falls away;
Plunge, look, seek, breathe
the pulsing heart in
such unfamiliar moments.
No longer fearing
what lies beneath
the water rushes 'round her,
the water rushes 'round her,
the water rushes 'round her, yes.
Countless suns birth and die
suspended,
pale against her glory.
With beautiful word pictures and imagery to die for ~ what's not to love about this poem.
An interesting read and quite colorful, however, just for the record, I get a bit uncomfortable whenever there's talk of a razor, rusty or otherwise.
I enjoyed reading and pausing to gaze at this beautiful vista you've painted
