I question my sanity
Have seen through logic,
    Half-laugh/Half-choke
As it flinched from my gaze
        And
As ape became man,
He worshiped the moment, or
So the story goes
Until, Eureka!
Kronos emasculated his father The Sky,
Carving The Day and The Night
In an Utterance,
Now, many-a-millenia later
History and Science have spoken -
They have a lot to say
        And
As the Greeks graced us
With a pantheon
Entertaining as Jerry Springer on Crack,
The Jews created a god of Vengeance,
Not surprising for the persecuted
Sons of Abraham
Isaac and Ishmael
Like Cain and Abel
Forever at odds
The Romans were smarter, or
Perhaps only more pragmatic,
Buy one god, get two free
But where does that leave me?
It wasn't papa god, mama god and baby god,
Mary lost out to a fucking ghost
        And
Anne Hutchinson burned for a witch
Denied all access to reasoning
Now, little girls everywhere
Are still
Mutilated by their loved ones
In the name of Tradition
Stripped of their joy,
Silenced quite effectively
        And
I cannot stop talking,
Only growing more afraid
Of what it is
I have to say.

women and religion

You've covered quite a bit of history in this poem. Maybe too much to drive home your point at the end, kind of a sledgehammer on a tack approach to moral teaching. One thing to consider correcting in your information, Ann Hutchison was found a heretic at her church trial and was banished from the Puritan colony, later, with her children, murdered and burned by a native raiding party. She was not burned as a witch.
