needlike rosebushes

unfettered stardust and
relentless hearts

so brittle and
softly masquerading
within tiny drops
of rain

unencumbered and
dark and rebuffing

a mocking hand
gestures for
strong winds to
blow those tiny
drops of rain
through the air

and relentless
hearts crumble
under the strain
of splattered
rain stinging
the face

predatory and
caged

trapped behind
thick bars of
rum and coke

and its the
tickling laughter
that finally
sets you free
