Unwelcome Visitor
by sassynyc

Used t’ be I came for the old
Those done lived out their lives ten fold

Used t’ be I came for the sick
For those whose time done run out
Whose tock done ticked

Sometimes I come in the still of the night
In the calm before morning
To steal an infant’s breath

You guessed it by now
Sho’ nuff, they call me
Ol’ Death

My clientele gets younger
With each passin’ day
I will fill my quota, somehow, someway

I’m busy as I can be
Not picky these days, as I used t’ be
In broad daylight, on a crowded street
No, not picky like I used t’ be

Might be a bullet
Tailor fit to the tee
Revolver, automatic
You can be sho’, it’s me

Used t’ make two and three trips
Just fo’ one soul
(Youngins thought I came just for the old)
But reality done struck
When I come knockin’
Yo’ gig is up!

Gave me a shiver!

Death is always cold but giving Death such an irreverent sort of tooth pick roll wit, is all the more chilling. I enjoyed the read if not the shiver down my spine! hehe
