VAIN HOPE
Too long and too confused is this whole story,
I think I bite more than I can chew,
You and our kid are still my only worry,
My songs for you are now quite a few.
That’s how I keep both functional and sane,
By writing tunes and verses about you,
My heart is still a massive field of pain,
But even that to you is nothing new.
I write my songs in hope that they’ll contain you,
Remind you of things that you destroyed,
Or maybe to amuse and entertain you,
My poor vain hope to fill again your void.
No one will ever be who could replace you,
And in my heart poses the place you took,
I cannot click your file and erase you,
You’re real, you’re not an electronic book.
I like you near rhyme as well as the obvious ones, did stumble a bit on the 2nd line of the 4th stanza where you have plural 'poses' and singular 'place'. Thanks for the read
