Vapor Trails

White lines
on blue
that seemed
so sharp,
so clear then
blur at the edges
as they
fade away.

You would
fly into
my life
at the edge
of a sonic boom
and disappear
like a vapor trail.

I remember
hugging you once,
when you stood
for a moment
and it
seemed so clear then,
but it blurred.

Later,
I guess
it was me
who faded away,
blurred into clouds
as I passed
through
your life.

And now,
miles apart,
we’ll talk
time to time,
with words that fade
to vapor trails
in blue skies.
