Vixen

byoneiria©

Her once warm eyes
that so softly held the world

cold now,
refusing each offered photon,

bouncing it back
into the unforgiving void.

Her retinas shine like flaring coals
with each passing semi,

searchlights for her
orphan kits,

her blood streaming like milk
over the yellow line.
