The loneliness closing in…
The dark velvet of the sky…
The sound of the guitar…
As the musician strolls by.

A delicate crystal goblet…
My fingers around the stem…
Looking up at the night…
While thinking of him.

The whispers of the water…
Lapping against the shore…
Lifting the glass to my lips…
My eyes on the door.

Remembering the last time…
His hands on my skin…
Wishing it was next time…
Ready…waiting to begin.

The passion in his eyes…
Seeing into my soul…
His words ragged and soft…
Daring to make me whole.

But tonight’s wait is over…
I turn…walk away…
Reminding myself…
Tomorrow is another day.
