We sit here in the after years,
Fitting coffins to all our darkest fears.
Waiting for the day. Waiting for the day.

Yet again,

You've manage to bring to mind lots of things with very few words. A talent I quite admire. Thanks for yet another bit of inspiration.

In retrospect, what you say makes perfect sense. I guess I've yet to start fitting coffins; I might get there yet. It's a haunting short poem.

Fitting coffins

I think it is the service and burial/cremation that is putting to rest. Fitting coffins is facing and dealing with death - and by anolgy other things. Preparation for putting to rest perhaps.

By fitting coffins to fears, aren't they put to rest, allowing for one to live without fearing "the day"? However, the last line gives the opposite idea. Strange, but interesting.
