a slight glance or brief touch
in the company of friends
the air thickens as we sit across
the room from each other
talking, laughing, just having a good time
always together never alone

Listening to music
sharing secrets
connecting our minds
finally alone
moisture leaves
as sounds becoming coarse
and straining of each syllable

overheard lights once
emitted eons ago
as if holes poked
in a solid blanket
that navigated sailors
fails to point the way
however
Venus shines brightly
And a path is found

At last
my fingers eagerly
anticipate the next strand
starting the next stroke
our hands touch
and our lips meet
you want to say stop
but yearn for more

Each kiss deepens in intensity
and grows in length
you push me away
then pull me forward
as our time starts
the world stops
as our bodies intertwines
pleasure is most important
just two people at the right place
ready to be joined
our breath is now in unison

the flint has been struck
and kindling is smoldering
and a fire will run wild
engulfing, scorching
until only ash remains
and small embers
flickering on
waiting to catch
waiting to start another blaze
