walls

we build these walls for our protection
stacked many high in all directions
so sturdy must we make these stacks
to save our heart if love attacks
when sentry sleeps and eyes go stray
a single soul takes blocks away
at first a glance or gentle smile
defenses slipping all the while
then comes a date, a good night kiss
a thousand blocks you'll never miss
the soul gets in, she takes the heart
to feast upon her favorite part
your thoughts will change, the hole will grow
life without her you fear to know
now there is no defensive plan

a new program has just begun

all walls come down with no regret
she is your love, she is no threat
