War Diaries
Day Fifteen

The happiest moment of my life was riding in that helicopter
Watching the blades turn against the blue sky
It felt like heaven
I almost forgot where I was
We touched down at home base
An army of doctors stood waiting for me
Their gear had me thinking I was dangerous goods
Don’t worry this is just precautions one said
You will be just fine said another
Its hard to believe with everything that happened
That I will be just fine
With all the memories seared into my brain
It will take me a lifetime
A lifetime to forget.
