War Diaries
Day Sixteen

The press want to interview him
They can’t now
Not in his state
We have to give them something
This boy is a war hero
I turn over in bed
Disgusted at the word “HERO”
How can they say this?
I’m just a guy who did his job
What they taught me to do
I just survived
Nothing more.
