WATCHER (OLD MAN)

I’m sitting on the porch; I’m old and grey
Watching the people go their way
I sit and just watch the world
I’d speak but I won’t be heard

I’ve seen millions march in the street
But none of them would I meet
I just watch them; I’m scared and old
And I wish I could have been bold
I sit back and absorb everything
And take nobody under my wing
Alone I will always watch it all
Until it is time for me to finally fall
All sorts of people wander my way
They don’t notice me and have nothing to say

I am the Watcher—I watch the world
I wish to exist but I am never heard
I am the Watcher and I watch your fate
Be free and happy for me it’s too late

I have watched the way of men
I’ve seen it all time and again
I am he Watcher and I see true
I know what men will always do
I have seen the love and crime
And I try to give the world I sign
I’ve watch and I own the truth
That should stand and be my proof
That my wisdom surpasses all
Why won’t anybody heed my call?

I am the Watcher and I watch the world
I’ve always been here but I’m never heard
I am the Watcher and I see your fate
Ignore me and it will be too late

I can’t keep up cause I’m past my prime
I just watch and wait for my time
My family has long since past
And my friends love could not last
The years have killed my youth
The children tell me the truth
“Your time has past you Old Man
You can’t do what us young kids can
So we will let you fade away
You have nothing useful to say”

I am the elder and what’s my crime?
“Being too many years past your prime”

The Watcher left a withered corpse
Untaken by the police force
Nobody noticed the Watcher’s death
Nobody cared that an old man left
