Lay down in the grass and stay a while.
Just so I can look at that sweet smile.
Let me revel in this new found virginity,
Making each moment last into infinity.
I yearn to keep you here, close by my side.
You give my heart wings upon which to glide.
Time passes us by as we lay through the night.
Turning our eyes eastward to dawn's first light,
We huddle closer against the chill of the dew.
My head is so clear, and my thoughts are of you.
You lean your head closer and say we must part.
Of greater things, I hope, this is the start.
I watch your back as you're turning to leave.
In one last hope, I catch at your sleeve,
But you shake your head no and turn away.
You walk down the hill to become his today.
So, here I sit, alone on this hill,
Not moving, not seeing, ever so still.
