Emotions like a swollen river

Threaten to burst forth from my heart

Water rushing to unearth the deepest pain

From the depths of one’s soul

Feeling the tide of feeling close around me

All I can do is surrender to the rushing wave

Allowing it to engulf me pulling me deeper into myself

Taking me to the very bottom where everything begins

The dark silent womb, whose warm waters gently rock,

Keeping me safe from the raging waters at my surface.

Silently floating I look up to see the tiny rays of light

Filter down through the dark depths of emotion,

Bringing the soft calming light after a storm.
