Click hereThey all have their secrets
Some darker than others
Some deeper than others
All carry a burden
Their eyes tell the stories
But who ever listens
When we all have our own
Petty problems to deal with
Tell her your story
Of pain and of fear
Will she turn her back
Or will she stand and listen?
What are the odds
That your scream will be heard?
What are the odds
That you won’t lose your wings?
Ignoring is quicker
Silencing works better
Denial, the swamp, the threat
That sucks us down
Those eyes haunt her nightly
She’ll finally listen
The façade is stripped
And their souls are laid bare
Tell her your story
Of hate and abuse
Will she turn her back
Or will she stand and listen?
What are the odds
That she’ll do the right thing?
What are the odds
That your trust won’t be broken?
The wall just gets thicker
Each day they add bricks
Untouchable minds
But they’re wilting so quickly
Malfunctioning lives
So she tries to get to them
But the wall seldom breaks
It just leaves her hands bloody
Tell her your story
Of sorrow and tears
Will she turn her back
Or will she stand and listen?
What are the odds
That the wall will come down?
What are the odds
That they will find their peace?
That someone will listen today with an open mind... and with genuine empathy.
A haunting piece of the pain of being ignored/denied. There are a few spots where it could use some tweaking, mostly adding or deleting a word or two to improve on the word flow; otherwise, pretty good.
