What Curse...This Winter

Like a drowning man,
Clinging to wreckage
Winter refuses to let go.

Its icy fingers pull, grasp
Pry every door and window
Crystal frost on every pane.

Days grow ever longer now
Nights wrapped in cold, wind
Fitful sun hides at dawn

Snow still lies waist deep
In the forest, on the fields
What magic, what curse
What winter...Is this.

I thought you should

take the idea of the first three lines and develop it more. In V2 suddenly Winter isn't desperate any more, do you see?

I've been hearing that it has been a rough winter. Been rather mild up here in Alaska.

Mike, back off a second, start with the first three lines, seem like you've heard them before? Go from there.
