what is love?

what is love?
mysterious and unresolved
like sex itself we are drawn
where? we do not know
some prehistoric impulse pushes us
and like the tendons
that bind our body parts together
we cannot break the invisible bond
that puts our lips on one another
that prods us to penetrate the impenetrable
until surprise, surprise
it is penetrable
and voila’—from the orgasm of sticky liquid
we reproduce
and our descendants must face the same enigma
pondered for all eternity
