Standing before the reflection,
Hair brushed, Makeup applied.
Remembered whispers of beauty,
Resounding in her mind.
In her saddened expression,
Reflecting in the mirror.
Seeing nothing to justify,
The true and heartfelt assurances,
Given by those who care most.
What she sees in that reflection,
Leaves a lot to be desired.
Choosing not to believe
That underneath the body
Which she loathes so...
Is the true and inner beauty,
That draws in the many,
Like the moth to the flame.
This is what she sees...
Hair brushed, Makeup applied,
Standing before the reflection.
