Close my eyes
watch balloons float our way
while you jump for joy
and I shake my hips.
On the platform
in the spotlight
you smile wide
tears in your eyes
while fingers run
through my hair.
Unafraid, unabashed
I feel the heat
beneath my feet
that shake to the beat
while you clap.

I wish I didn’t have to imagine it all.

~~
