When Love Stops Being Returned

The silence is deafening
My heart feels cold and brittle
Life is empty
Tears are forever in my eyes
Breathing becomes a chore

How easy it would be to let go
Fall apart and hide away from life
The choice to go on is hard
The hurt immense

Each minute that passes
Seems harder than the one before
I look for excuses why the world
Would be better without me

Surely no one would miss me
After all the one I want most
The one I was willing to give everything to
Do everything for doesn’t want me

The one I lowered all my barriers for
because I decided to trust again
To give my heart decided to throw it away
Shattered and leaving shards all through my being

Should I fight the feelings of loneliness
Or just give in to the enticement
of never having to go through this ever again
No longer feeling numb or unwanted.

Here's hoping that love...

calls on you again very soon. It has many guises.

Take care
