over iced tea and apple juice.
A unique combination
of the unknown.
She looks to the left of his eyes
a bit above the line of vision.
So unlike her,
this almost clandestine meeting.
Chatter leads to questions.
Already disclosing more than intended.
Not the essentials, but the necessary,
the common ground.
His hands are so telling,
divulging distinct surprises.
Seeing beyond the obvious,
she imagines.
She doesn’t notice his glances
at her breasts, the peeks
are quick and furtive.
She wonders if he even tried.
No clues to reveal past exchanges
of fantasy and fanciful, earthy delights
shared regularly in the wee hours,
a bond forged by talk alone.
So, they sit in the diner
sipping and conversing,
an average couple, or so it seems.
But they know
each other’s oblique desires
those forbidden thoughts,
rarely acknowledged, let alone exchanged.
No one would ever guess.
You have some really nice moments in this poem. The first stanza is interresting, as well as some clever lines and hooks like "divulging distinct surprises" and "She wonders if he even tried." You have an eye for those little details that makes a scene come alive. I suggest you explore them further.
Keep it up, I'll definitely look out for the next poem. :)
