There are white chairs lined up on the lawn today
Someone is getting married

Fresh cut grass and magnolia blossoms
Soft music in the warm air

She will reach out and touch the buttons on his shirt
He will study her smile through the lace

The only sound is the engine
and the air in my throat as I sigh

Looking though grimy car windows
at the church outside

There are white chairs lined up on the lawn today
But not for me and you.
