Why await a true love
who hides himself so well
Why await a true love
When waiting feels like hell

Why does the sun shine all day
And the moon at night
Why does the little bird fly away
When threatened with a fright

There is no reason, more or less
Than nature made it so
And to my true love I do confess
The secrets of my soul

He is my moon and sun and sky
This is nothing but the truth
And if he has to ask me why
He’s not a very good sleuth

Be careful

WH Auden may stop all your clocks. S.O.

(He was my North, my South, my East and West,

My working week and my Sunday rest,

My noon, my midnight, my talk, my song;

I thought that love would last for ever: I was wrong.)
