Winter Pause
Ice coated tress, leafless,
Stand silent in the yard,
Shimmering sentinels waiting,
For the warmth of spring.
Serene beneath moon and stars,
Limbs upraised in hope,
Of the winter's passing.
Patiently standing as always,
Constant and sturdy,
Under the burden,
Of the season's cold and snow.
The promise of green life,
In each twig and branch,
Ready to bloom with the touch,
Of spring sun and gentle rain.
The rhythm of time,
Touching each in season,
Ever changing, ever the same,
Life and hope together.
