cool, rain-cleared air
yellow red leaves everywhere:
sun shows signs of wear
dead apples on the stairs
bears headed for their lairs
coffee-maker's on
summer's come and gone,
Caesar's returned to clay
Jesus couldn't stay
my skies are gray today
no wings to fly away
maybe that's okay
like the dead men say:
"winter she comes anyway"
