For Karen B.

Sail your ship across the ocean -
pull your keel up on our shore,
simply enter, without knocking -
yours no lock upon my door…
I'll stand smiling to receive you -
what can you be waiting for?

I will give you satin pillows
and a bed of eiderdown,
and a book of hours for comfort
and a long embroidered gown
with the sunlit fields to smile on
and the moonlight for a crown...

I will close the velvet curtains
to shut out the cold dark night
and I'll light the room with candles
and I'll light a fire bright -
may your countenance be shining
in a halo of soft light!

We'll have music mixed with laughter -
it will halt this world's decline
with this closeness ever after
as you shed some of your shine
on the world in and around me
when you put your lips on mine.

Drown me in your brown eyes' passion -
you will make my voice grow hoarse;
I will croak with joy and tremble,
shaking with this love's sheer force…
let's not wait another moment -
let us nature's laws endorse.

Come along into the shower
where I'll please you as you stand
wet and sweet for half an hour
squirming as my soapy hand
trails your every curve and treasure -
no place barred and nothing banned.

When we can no longer stand it
we will dash across the hall
to our bed with full abandon
just we two enjoying all
this bright world has got on offer -
baby, isn't life a ball?

You already know what I think!

Lucky lady! It's quite a lovely gesture, even a romantic one, to write poetry for a woman, especially nowadays when so many women have adopted a less "feminine" role, and are demanding equality in every regard with men! Karen must truly be liberated to enjoy such a gift as this is! And it's such a gem of a poem, too!
