With her
I see her, I smile, it’s that simple,
My heart beats a little faster,
My senses seem more alert.
The colours, the sounds, are all clearer.
How does she do it? I don’t know.
I just know she does.

She smiles at me and suddenly
Everything bad doesn’t matter anymore.
My life is fuller because she’s in it,
The sun is a little warmer somehow,
The sky a brighter blue, the trees greener.
And rain? What rain? I don’t feel rain with her.

Her eyes look into mine,
She sees the whole of me, everything.
Her fingers touch me with a fire all their own,
A feeling still there long after the touch is over.
Her arms hold me so tenderly,
A feeling like forever in a single moment
And a moment that will last forever.

Her lips speak of her love for me,
Her desires, her wishes, her dreams.
Then she kisses me, and forever isn’t long enough,
And a moment lasts too long.
Then its over, and an eternity passes until the next kiss
When it seems her lips never left mine at all.

She lays down with me, close, warm.
Our arms fit so perfectly, our bodies too.
We fit together so well, two parts of one whole,
Complete, even in stillness.
Our breathing soft, then rising with our hunger
Kisses burning, fingers scalding, moving together
To our own, unheard rhythm, always in time.
We need no music, we make our own,
A tune we know so well that only we can play.

Moving together slowly, slower, quicker,
Towards a place inescapable,
The journey every bit as special as the destination.
The destination reached in a rush,
Unstoppable, uncontrollable, unimaginable before her.
Still the feel of her arms, of safety,
Holding me, mine holding her,
Reality a thing of the past, the future
A place I head towards unsure of the route to take,
Knowing only that I will get there. With her.

With her, I can do anything,
With her, I have nothing to fear,
With her, just because she is with me,
With her, the place I was meant to be,
With her, my butterfly, my angel, my love

Bravo

I usually only like poetry if it has the word "Nantucket" in it, but I enjoyed this one. It's sincere and without pretension, a simple expression of heartfelt sentiment. Not like that greeting card crap you see all the time.

With her...

you are a very lucky man. Although each verse carried a powerful message of your love and trust for/in her, the one that says it best is, " A place I head towards unsure of the route to take, Knowing only that I will get there. With her." A beautiful tribute to, I'm certain, a very beautiful woman.
