A lonely wolf wandering alone
limping and wounded seeking home
his pack gone astray
leaving him alone that final day

A hound wounded and tired
wandering from den to hovel
anger and hatred fading to sorrow
tying to give meaning to why they went away

Wandering through the night
only a few dark souls what may
yet finding one bringing light
dim as it was it shown through

Sadness begets sorrow
but even sorrow can be shared
quietly to lick at wounds
if only but two

A wolf wandering the night
finding a home in sight
leaving behind the dim light
if only she were to follow

Home is where there is safety
laughter ringing through the halls
bringing healing and joy to an old wolf
sadness though as there were one

One left behind
holding her dim light
she too found her own home
looking back through the gloom

Even a lonely wolf in a home grows feral
wishing only to howl at the moon
A rose once lay where paws want to be
only time will tell
