He is a wolf
And I, his dragonfly
During the night he stalks his prey
Relentlessly pursuing until the light of day
His emerald eyes burn with a rapacious greed
Determined and focused regardless of how I bleed
I have wings with which to fly
Instead I hover, ever nearby
For he is my wolf
And I, his dragonfly
He lures me with little remorse or shame
His goal to bring me ever closer to the flame
He watches as I flutter near the fire
Dancing on love's razor wire
We remain locked in an eternal fray
One forever seeking, the other soaring away
For he is my wolf
And I, his dragonfly
With sweet intent he entices me into his lair
His scent, touch, kiss are more than I can bear
I try to unfurl my wings and fly to the sky
Desperate to flee, unable to utter goodbye
For he is a wolf, and I was his dragonfly
We can never be, no need to question why
