What is it with the women I know?
The worse that you treat them, the farther you go.
I found me a girl I’d sought my whole life,
I gave her a ring and made her my wife.
I treated her right like a man really should,
And for all of my trouble, it came to no good.
I told her I loved her, too many times,
Told her in songs, even told her in rhymes.
You say it too often and it loses its punch,
Then you see her with another, having some lunch.
One thing to another, as it usually leads,
The next thing you know, he’s taking care of her needs.
The love you’d professed meant diddely squat,
You said it so often she paid it no thought.
If you know where I’m at, recognizing this scene,
With your next choice of woman, you best treat her real mean.
