Mote:
A thousand tropics
     in an apple blossom
          The generous earth itself
gave us lief.
     The whole world
          Became my garden!
---William Carlos Williams from 'Asphodel, that Greeny Flower"

A thousand tropics
     would barely represent
          our complex variety.
Hot and wet,
     lush and wild,
          we are the jungle!

We cannot be seen
     in an apple blossom
          even by Georgia O'Keefe.
We are more
     than sweet pink-
          too complex for Spring!

Nubile Priestesses,
     Rubenesque Goddesses,
          the generous earth itself.
Rolling hills
     reflecting
          voluptuous curves!

Breaking away from
     mainstream religiousness
          finding sensuality
gave us lief.
     We embrace
          the yin of darkness!

Twinkling beneath stars,
     quivering with pleasure
we know night and shadows are
a respite:
     the whole world
          resting in balance!

Planting seeds of joy
     Anais Nin was right;
          sprouting is our new hobby.
Infinite
     universe
           became my garden!
