Out of the blue,
"Mom I want to go,
Live with dad,
I can't handle step dads cancer"

Tears fill my eyes,
Did I really just hear,
What I think I did?

Doesn't she know,
She is my life,
My reason for living

For getting up in the morning,
The thing I look forward to,
Every single day

I know she wants a response,
As the tears roll down my face,
But I can't speak

As my mind processes,
The unlivable words,
That left her mouth

Very evocative

Seems autobiographical, a good reason for sorrow in poetry. If so, I'm sorry.
